Ray Dalio: Biography of the Legendary Investor
Ray Dalio was born in New York City in 1949. His father was a jazz musician and his mother was a homemaker. Dalio grew up in a modest home in Queens and attended public schools. He was a bright student and excelled in mathematics and science.
Dalio attended Long Island University and graduated with a degree in accounting. After graduation, he worked as an accountant for a small firm. However, he soon realized that he was more interested in investing than accounting.
In 1975, Dalio founded Bridgewater Associates with $1,200 of his own money. The firm initially focused on investing in commodities. However, Dalio soon began to develop his own unique investment philosophy.
