In the summer of 2021, I embarked on a collecting trip into the remote Navajo Nation. My goal was to acquire unique and authentic Navajo art and crafts, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the culture and traditions of the Navajo people. The trip was a challenging but ultimately rewarding experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have had it.

The Journey

The Navajo Nation is a vast and sparsely populated land, covering parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. The terrain is rugged and unforgiving, with towering mesas, deep canyons, and endless stretches of desert. To reach the remote areas where the best Navajo art is found, I had to travel on rough dirt roads and cross several rugged washes.

The journey was long and tiring, but the scenery was breathtaking. I passed through towering red rock canyons, lush green valleys, and ancient juniper forests. I also saw a variety of wildlife, including deer, elk, and wild horses.
