Early Life

Capt. James Bradley was born in Liverpool, England, in 1745. He began his seafaring career at a young age, and by the time he was in his early twenties, he was a successful shipmaster. In 1770, he married Mary Ann Smith, the daughter of a wealthy Liverpool merchant. Mary Ann was a strong and intelligent woman, and she was a perfect match for her husband. The Ship Sally

The ship Sally was a British merchant ship that was built in Liverpool in 1772. The ship was named after Capt. Bradley's wife, Mary Ann. The Sally was a large ship, with a capacity of over 300 tons. She was used to transport goods between Liverpool and the West Indies. Capt. Bradley commanded the Sally for many years, and he made a number of successful voyages. He was a skilled navigator, and he was able to sail the Sally through some of the most dangerous waters in the world.

The Voyage of the Sally

In 1780, the Sally sailed from Liverpool on a voyage to the West Indies. The ship was carrying a cargo of goods, including cloth, tools, and food. The voyage was a success, and the Sally returned to Liverpool in 1781. Capt. Bradley was praised for his skill and courage, and he was awarded a medal by the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.

Later Life

Capt. Bradley continued to command the Sally for many years. He made a number of successful voyages, and he became one of the most respected shipmasters in Liverpool. He retired from the sea in 1795, and he and his wife moved to a country estate. They lived a long and happy life together.
