The Davidson family's story begins with William Davidson, a Scottish immigrant who settled in the Yadkin River Valley in the mid-1700s. In 1774, he purchased 1,200 acres of land, which he named Rural Hill. Over the years, William and his descendants expanded the plantation's acreage to over 3,000 acres, establishing it as a thriving agricultural enterprise. The plantation produced tobacco, cotton, and other crops, and was home to a large number of slaves.
